Established in 1992, LCM are an award-winning supplier of bespoke alloys to the foundry sector and beyond, bringing strong expertise in all areas of alloy production including the specialism of rare earth metal alloys, sourcing and innovation.
Simon Forrester, CMF Chief Executive Designate said of the news “one of the main values of CMF is bringing the whole value chain of foundries and suppliers together. Less Common Metals allows CMF foundry members access to specialty alloys, master alloys and rare earth metal alloys, along with expert advice and support in their use, crucial in an industry that is constantly innovating on behalf of its customers. I am particularly keen to discuss LCM’s focus on minimising the impact of their activity on the environment, as customers are asking questions of foundries regarding their supply chain and procurement.”
LCM use refined valuable raw materials to make bespoke alloys such as NiV, CrAl, CoCr, LaNi, NiCe, CoAl, TiFe and Inconel alloys among others using VIM processes with quantities as low as 5kg. They also offer raw material supply, toll melting, master alloys and manufacture NdFeB and SmCo for the magnetics industry, and are also very proud to be working towards establishing an alternative supply chain for Rare Earth Elements.
Zukia Garcia, Sales Manager of LCM said “we are very pleased to be a part of the Cast Metals Federation and can see the value of closer working links with UK foundries. We are already planning to attend a range of CMF events throughout 2025, and look forward to meeting members there to explain how we can assist our foundry members in their alloy and material supplies, and offer a custom service with the support of our excellent technical department.”
